DISC COME 'N TRY DAY
Please see below a message from Cycle Sport Victoria. (full details are also available on there website)
Dear club members,
The time has come when I can officially release to you the date for the next Track Come and Try Day!! The next day has been scheduled for Sunday 7th December. This is a great opportunity for all club members to invite someone they know, bring their family and come and ride on the indoor velodrome here at DISC. The day will begin at 7:30am and finish at 2:00pm.

2008 / 2009 Summer Road Season
Just a quick update on our plans for racing over summer this year. We are in the process of finalising plans to hopefully hold some criterium racing over the summer months in Geelong.
Full details are still yet to be determined, but make sure you keep your eyes on the website. These should be completed over the next week or so.

GEELONG WEST TRACK UPGRADE
Its been a long time coming......
This year before we start our track racing season the track will be repaired and resurfaced. This will include new bitumen, new drainage, freshly painted lines and a flexi pave surface coating for the final 200m stretch to allow for a faster finish. This work will commence in a few weeks as soon as the local football season is completed.
Please be aware that there may be a delay to the start of the season due to the works being carried out. We look forward to seeing you all at the track for a fantastic track season.
This year for the track season we will be asking all of you for some sort of support. To make the season run smoothly we would like you to all show some support in running the racing and training nights. We're not asking the world just some help. It may be with the canteen or helping Pam & Nev with numbers and timing.
We also need someone to ride the motorcycle during motor pacing events.
We don't expect you to do something every week. The more we have the easier it will be for all.

 The Geelong Cycling Strategy is out for public comment, as part of the investigation a feasibility was undertaken to create a home for cycling in Geelong which would essentially bring all cycling disciplines together
The key findings are listed below but essentially Council is seeking to retain and improve the Geelong West Veledrome and re consider it in 2011. A point to consider for riders is the timing of these events.
- Should the veledrome be retained then the ungraded works should occur in next financial year
- The criterium should also be constructed considered next financial year, future planning and investigation will delay the development by years.
