Good Friday Handicap

 

Good Friday saw Geelong riders take to the road in a sealed handicap with all race entries and any other donations going to the Good Friday Appeal. As with all sealed handicaps the pressure was on early as the stronger riders attempted to split the bunch. Mark Bellew was impressive not only splitting the bunch but also dragging Rudolf Schmidt around the course for a couple of laps. (by Rudolf’s recollection the work was split 60/40)

good friday bellew.jpgMark subsequently took fastest time over a chasing bunch of Nathan Ashton, Steve Draper and  John Burtt just to name a few.

 

All riders rode hard and had to wait for the final results to determine who had won with placings as follows:

  1. 1st. Tony Pritz
  2. 2nd. John Burtt
  3. 3rd. Mark Issacs
  4. The Juniors saw the first road race for all of the field with sterling efforts from all. Steven Del Gello took the honours over Ashley Glespis, Tony Rabbas and Ryan Bird.

$400 was raised for the Good Friday Appeal.
