Start of the Track Season, 2011-2012

Geelong Cycling Club track training and racing has got off to a flying start! We have had a great turnout with the juniors at Monday training with one new member turning up every week to enjoy the atmosphere, great camaraderie and hard training that goes with our already fantastic junior members.

Some have gotten off to a slow start but have soon woken up as hard training put in by the likes of Molly reminds them how good the could be. Veteran juniors Declan and Hugh still show their wily talents by making sure they stand out by thinking alone, and are always helpful with their guidance and friendly attitude. Most improved are the two that have shown little fear and plenty of skill from day one. The youngest take up the challenge! Well done Meg and Gus.

As the weeks have passed we have had plenty of fun. The professor (aka Kane) has steadily improved and continued to amuse in his usual manner. Likewise when he's got a sibling to beat Bryce puts in strengths that leaves you wondering what he's thinking about while he's pottering about on the other side of the track. Always a smile from him. It makes my day.

Brothers Lincoln and Harry have the right attitude! It's maybe a family recipe? A pinch of competitiveness, a dash of cunning, a kilo of strength and heaps of laughs. And to our newest regular, and our most relaxed, cheers for India for having a good time, learning like a sponge and being such a cool crooozer!

Everyone has learnt the basics. We focus on safety and fun, with a hint of competition. All have achieved entry and exit from the fence, circles on the slope of the track, great pedaling technique and riding together, swapping turns. The best part is that all are at different levels of skill and confidence, yet their enthusiasm is equal. Communication and sharing between the riders is exemplary. Thanks! Oli :D

Senior Racing has been a lot of fun, and a bit of a wake up for the legs. Ow! We have had a good number of riders turn up in total, we just need you ALL, EVERY WEEK. PLEEEEEEESE. Ol
