Tour of Geelong Results

James Stokie and James Langedyk both had great rides on the 1st day of the Tour of Geelong with top 50 finishes (just 20 seconds shy of Stage winner Richard Lang) during Stage 2 (Lara to You Yangs) for both. James Stokie finished a very impressive 39th and James Langedyk close behind in 45th. This was made even more impressive considering the stage was ridden in an average of 43.19km/h for over 70km. Langers also had a great ride in the morning's criterum at North Shore with 16th place. The rest of the team including Paul Blackborrow, Greg Stewart, Daniel Wilson, Darren McCallum, and Marcus Falconer all hung on to finish.

Unfortunately things didn't go as well on Day two, with rain and steep, tricky roads combining to play havoc on the peleton. Both Langers and James Stokie crashed out on seperate steep, tricky decents around the roads near Meredith and Steglitz and unfortunately James Stokie sustained a broken collarbone with minor cuts and bruises. Fortunately James is now doing well, but please send your best wishes for a speedy recovery. The rest of the boys were unable to finish the marathon 140km stage, but were back in the mix today with individual starts for the State Championship Time Trial at Ceres.

The action contunies tomorrow with the final State Championship criterim at the Botonical Gardens folowed by Sunday's 150km road race at Portarlington.
