Track Racing Results - 20 Jan 2010

A warm night with the traditional windy finish straight greeted the good sized feild of riders for another Wednesday night of fast paced track action.

How it happened...

Race 1 - Scatch Race:

The Juniors set the tone with the first scratch race being a tight finish enjoyed by the crowd. The senior scratch race saw the fields of A and B grades combined and the pace was on early so it was a case of tucking in and hanging on for the B graders. Steve Young again showed to be the strong man taking it out, and somehow Pam and Neville were able to sort out the finishing order of the two grades in the blur of the finish.

  A Grade B Grade Juniors
1st Steve Young Martin Watters Jack Quibell
2nd Steve Del Gallo Ryan Lloyd Jamie Edwards
3rd Oliver King Braden McKay Dylan Bilston

Race 2 - 200m Flyers:

Flyers and sprints were the order of the day for the nights main races, and the tough headwind was going to play its part on how to hit your effort. The juniors hit it out first setting good times for themsleves, then the B graders got around, somehow I (Craig) managed to pull one out of the dark zone to take B's fastest, and then the A graders hit their straps with Youngy blowing eveyones doors off wining by just over a second. Results of the flyers determined the draw for the sprints with the two fastest racing for Gold and Silver, and the rest for Bronze in a best of three format. Juniors saw Jack and Jamie riding off with Jack taking the prize in two for gold, and Dylan edged out Rylan Bird in two to take bronze.

  A Grade B Grade Juniors
1st Steve Young 13.40 Craig Strong 14.95 Jack Quibell 16.75
2nd Brad Young 14.45 Martin Watters 15.09 Jamie Edwards 17.89
3rd Steve Del Gallo 14.55 Braden McKay 15.62 Dylan Bilston 17.89
4th Oliver King 14.57 Vincent Glynn 15.84 Rylan Bird 19.05
5th Steve Glausen 15.57 Ryan Lloyd 16.34 Declan Macauley 23.23 / 22.93

Race 3 - Sprints:

In B Grade a three up elminiation sprint took place to determine the two who would race for Bronze with Vinnie and Ryan eliminiating Braden for the right to fight it out. The Gold Medal match was between Craig and Martin, with Martin showing me a clean pair of heals bouncing me out in straight sets 2 zip. The racing for bronze went to a decider and Vinnie was able to get the edge on Ryan for the place. A grade saw another Three up elimination to decide the Bronze between Steve Del Gallo, Oliver King and Steve Glausen, with Steve D and Oliver getting through. The battle of Father and Son was on for gold, but Steve showed no mercy and took the series 2-0 over Brad. The race for Bronze was another 2-0, Oliver this time being too strong taking third.
